Jim Robbins is President of EWA-Canada. Jim joined EWA-Canada after a 23 year career in the Royal Canadian Air Force(Canadian Forces-Air Element). His military career included a tour with the Flight Research Laboratories of the National Research Council and an exchange tour with the Royal Air Force.
He led the effort to apply many of the lessons learned in systems engineering and the Electronic Warfare (EW) domain to IT security. He helped launch CanCERT and gain the first Canadian membership in the international Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST).
He served as facilitator to the National CIO Subcommittee on Information Protection, and was a member of two working groups of the Defence Science Advisory Board and as a member of an advisory panel to the Auditor General of Canada on IT Risks in Government. He was also a member of the Canadian Government/Industry delegation supporting the G8 workshops on Cyber Security
Jim is a member of the International Council on Systems Engineering, and was a lead participant in the development of the Systems Security Engineering Capability Maturity Model (SSE-CMM) involving over 60 US Canadian Government and commercial organizations. He is on the Board of Directors and a Senior Advisor to the International Systems Security Engineering Association.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in integrated Science studies with a concentration in physics and computer science.
